Coated steel sheets are lightweight, aesthetically pleasing, and offer excellent corrosion resistance. They are also directly processable, providing a novel raw material for the construction, shipbuilding, vehicle manufacturing, furniture, and electrical industries. They offer benefits such as substituting steel for wood, efficient construction, energy savings, and pollution prevention.
However, the lifespan of color-coated steel sheets with the same zinc coating amount, paint type, and coating thickness can vary significantly depending on the region and application. For example, in industrial or coastal areas, corrosion accelerates due to sulfur dioxide gas or salt in the air, impacting lifespan. During rainy seasons, prolonged exposure to rainwater or areas with large diurnal temperature variations prone to condensation lead to faster corrosion and reduced lifespan.
Buildings or factories made with color-coated steel sheets have longer lifespans when frequently washed by rain. Otherwise, sulfur dioxide gas, salt, and dust affect their lifespan. Therefore, during design, a steeper roof slope reduces dust and dirt accumulation, increasing lifespan. Regularly washing areas not frequently exposed to rain is recommended.
