　　In total carbon emissions, the construction industry accounts for almost 50%, which is far higher than the transportation and industrial sectors. In Europe, Australia, and Japan, the local construction industry pays close attention to carbon constraints and the circular economy, and prefabricated steel structure housing has reached a very mature stage, accounting for more than 40% of all residential buildings. This prefabricated steel structure can maximize resource saving, environmental protection, and pollution reduction, providing people with a healthy, applicable, and efficient use space.

　　At an international modern building industry expo, relevant personnel from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development pointed out that if industrialized residential production methods are popularized in China, it will reduce about 83% of construction waste and about 60% of material loss, increase recyclable materials by 60%, and achieve more than 50% energy saving in buildings. Steel structure buildings, with their energy-saving and environmentally friendly characteristics, represent the development direction of industrialized housing. In the future, replacing concrete with steel will be the trend.

　　It should be noted that in recent years, China's steel structure construction has formed a huge industry, with the output value of the main steel structure manufacturing industry alone exceeding 60 billion yuan, and an industrial chain has been formed, including steel production, steel structure design, component processing and manufacturing, component installation, and related industries. A new circular building industrialization system—the steel structure green building system—is also rapidly forming in China.

　　Steel structure houses or buildings will break down the boundaries between the real estate, construction, machinery equipment manufacturing, green building, new building materials, disaster prevention and mitigation, home appliance kitchen and bathroom decoration industries, combining into a new circular building industrialization system; it can also redirect the funds of the real estate industry back to the real economy such as modern manufacturing, achieving economic transformation and upgrading. In recent years, steel structure buildings and residential buildings in China have been developing continuously. According to preliminary statistics, more than 10 million square meters of steel structure residential buildings have been developed or built in provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Hubei, and Inner Mongolia. A large number of steel structure buildings with world-leading technology, such as the Bird's Nest and Water Cube for the Beijing Olympic Games, the new CCTV office building, and the Shanghai World Financial Center, have become model projects for using steel structures as the main structural elements in China.
