Steel Steel is a non-combustible building material with properties such as earthquake resistance and bending resistance. In practical applications, steel can relatively increase the load-bearing capacity of buildings, meet the needs of architectural design aesthetics, and avoid the shortcomings of building materials such as concrete that cannot be bent or stretched. Therefore, steel has been favored by the construction industry, and its use is very common in single-story, multi-story, and skyscrapers, factories, warehouses, waiting rooms, and waiting halls. However, steel, as a building material, has some unavoidable shortcomings in fire prevention. Its mechanical properties, such as yield point, tensile strength, and elastic modulus, will all decrease sharply with increasing temperature.

Steel Structure Steel structures usually lose their load-bearing capacity and undergo significant deformation at temperatures between 450°C and 650°C, causing steel columns and beams to bend, resulting in their inability to continue use due to excessive deformation. The fire resistance limit of unprotected steel structures is generally around 15 minutes. The duration of this time is also related to the speed at which the components absorb heat. To overcome the shortcomings of steel structures in fire prevention in practical applications, fire protection measures must be implemented, with the aim of increasing the fire resistance limit of the steel structure to the limit range specified in the design code. Preventing steel structures from rapidly heating up, deforming, and collapsing in a fire, measures are diverse and the key is to adopt different methods based on different situations, such as using thermal insulation, Fire-resistant Material blocking the flame from directly burning the steel structure, reducing the speed of heat transfer, delaying the time of steel structure temperature rise and weakening strength, etc. However, regardless of the method used, the principle is the same. Therefore, the author believes that in reality, four fire protection measures for steel structures must be given importance.

1. Outer cladding. As the name suggests, it is to add an outer cladding to the surface of the steel structure using a spray-painting method. Using specialized spraying equipment to spray "Jinma steel structure fire-resistant slurry (single-component)" onto the surface of the steel structure to form a protective layer, the fire-resistant slurry thickness can be designed according to fire protection requirements, which can meet the fire resistance limit of 2-3 hours or more. It is currently one of the best performing and cost-effective fire-resistant slurries on the market.

2. Water-filled jacket. Filling hollow steel structures with water is the most effective protective measure against fire. This method can keep the steel structure at a lower temperature during a fire, and the water circulates within the steel structure, absorbing the heat generated by the material itself. The heated water can be recirculated after cooling, or pipeline cool water can be introduced to replace the heated water.

3. Shielding. Steel structures are set within walls or ceilings made of fire-resistant materials, or components are embedded in the gap between two walls. Adding a small amount of fire-resistant material or no addition can achieve fire prevention purposes. This is the most economical fire prevention method.

4. Expansion material. Using steel structure fire-retardant coating to protect components. This method has good fire insulation and heat insulation performance, and the construction is not limited by the geometric shape of the steel structure. Generally, no auxiliary facilities are needed. The coating is light in weight and has a certain aesthetic decorative effect, belonging to modern advanced fire protection technology measures.

Currently, the number of high-rise steel structure buildings is increasing, especially some super-high-rise buildings, which use steel structures more widely. Once a fire occurs in a high-rise building, the fire cannot be extinguished in a short time. This requires that during building design, we increase the fire protection of building materials to enhance their fire resistance limit, and formulate necessary emergency plans inside the building to reduce casualties and property losses.

"Jinma steel structure fire-resistant slurry (single-component)" forms the outer cladding, and the fire-resistant slurry thickness can be designed according to fire protection requirements, which can meet the fire resistance limit of 2-3 hours or more. It is currently one of the best performing and cost-effective fire-resistant slurries on the market.
